Boston College scheduled a press conference for Tuesday afternoon to announce its new athletic director, six weeks after Gene DeFilippo stepped down. Senior associate athletics director John Kane has served as interim athletics director, while vice president of human resources Leo Sullivan led the search for DeFilippo’s replacement. The hire comes in the middle of an ugly start to the Eagles’ football season under embattled coach Frank Spaziani. Spaziani was tapped by DeFilippo after Jeff Jagodzinski’s messy stint at The Heights.
