Red Sox, Blue Jays discussing John Farrell

ST. LOUIS — What we’ve learned from multiple major league sources in the last 24 hours is that there are discussions going on between the Blue Jays and Red Sox concerning a deal for Toronto manager John Farrell.

Since this time last year, Farrell has been Boston’s No. 1 choice to manage. Nothing has changed. As the Red Sox concluded their fallback interviews Thursday — with former Sox bench coach DeMarlo Hale receiving the call — they are now in position to move forward on the compensation issue with Toronto, if that is an obstacle.

I still can;t understand the fascination with this guy. His numbers stink and there are a hellava lot better prospects out there for this position.

He's at best a "B" manager.

The Red Sox are insane if they give up anything beyond a bag of baseballs for Farrell.

I agree with Shoney, give up NOTHING for Farrell. The Red Sox can't afford to give away any prospect or major league player to get this guy. Bluff Toronto, They say give us Buchholz, you say we'll give you Aceves, that is it, take it or leave it.

If Lucchino forces Cherington to give up any prospects for a manager the fans should boycott the Red Sox.

Don't give up much. The others interviewed are just as qualified and free.
