Patriots defense has no answers for big plays

Football may be the ultimate team sport. It certainly helps to have a great quarterback, but even he cannot succeed on his own. The offensive line has to lend protection, the receiver has to catch the ball, the defense has to keep the other team out of the end zone, and special teams can help both the offense and defense.

To look at the number of big passing plays the Patriots have given up to this point and pin them solely on the maligned secondary isn’t fair.

Any quarterback can find a receiver when he's got 10 seconds to look around. Any receiver can get open when he's got 10 seconds to run around. The Patriots have to find a way to apply pressure more effectively. How about more blitzing?

Short of Rodney Harrison,Asante Samuel, and any other DB's from the past getting reincarnated at Gillette, the D is going to cost us any chance of winning another Super Bowl anytime soon. We can't depend on the offense to score 40+ points a game, which they are not doing because of the red zone failures. That being said, other than Houston,Houston?,there are no rock solid teams in the NFL. All we can do is keep our fingers crossed.
