Mike Aviles opens up on departure from Red Sox

Mike Aviles was in upstate New York on Friday, visiting his family and celebrating the birthday of one of his children when he got an unexpected phone call.

It was one of his agents saying that the Red Sox were about to trade him to Toronto as compensation for manager John Farrell.

Now that's a classy guy. Too bad he won't be playing for the Sox anymore. Speaking of former Sox shortstops, how about that Marco Scutaro? Lighting it up for the Giants. Another standup guy who was one of the few players to play hard throughout The Collapse of 2011. The Sox sent a bad signal when they moved him. Hopefully they'll stop listening to Carmine and start putting an emphasis on a player's makeup. There's some things stats won't tell you and it's important to having a championship-caliber team - see Sox 2004 roster.

Mike aviles was one of the bright spots in a terrible season for the Sox. He may not be an All-Star,but he was consistant. Never caused any problems,I think they should have kept him.
