BU men’s hockey rallies to beat UMass

On the road, down two goals, Boston University rallied to secure a weekend sweep of UMass with a 3-2 win at the Mullins Center in Amherst on Saturday night.

Senior Sean Escobedo potted the winner off a rebound with 1:22 left in regulation for the 13th-ranked Terriers (3-1-0, 3-1-0 Hockey East).

The Minutemen (1-3-0, 0-3-0), who saw a chance for their first league points evaporate on Escobedo’s goal, were up, 2-0, early in the second period after Shane Walsh’s power-play goal and Rocco Carzo’s penalty shot.

Wade Megan got BU on the board nearly five minutes into the second, and Matt Nieto tied it on a power-play strike 10 minutes later. Both goals were assisted by Garrett Noonan.
