For joining Heat, Ray Allen gets cold shoulder

MIAMI — Does it really have to be like this?

Ray Allen didn’t like losing his starting job in Boston. Ray didn’t like Rajon Rondo. He didn’t feel appreciated by the Celtics.

It's not just Boston. Spots, War, Love, it generally ends badly everywhere. That's why we revel so much in the occasional success.

This game hurt on so many levels. Intellectually I get why Ray went to Miami but every shot he made last night felt like a stake through the heart (alright maybe that's a little strong). As to the KG cold shoulder - I put that on Ray - what did he think was going to happen? If he cares so much for KG he shouldn't have put him in that position in front of the world.

Red Sox-ian? Spare me.

LOVE Kevin Garnett. It's a war and Ray's the enemy. KG did exactly what Larry Bird would have done, what Ted Williams would have done, what Bill Russell would have done, and what the rest of the Celtics should have done. You want to leave our band of brothers? You're officially trying to take bread off my table and out of my kids' mouths. KG is an awesome leader.

I don't see anything wrong with KG not acknowledging Ray. When Johnny Damon left to got to the Yankees it was because they offered him more money. Ray tried to hold up the Celtics for $9 million a year, the Celtics offered him $6 million and he took half of that to play for the Heat. If you've heard his recent interviews with Miami media this was purely ego-driven. Ray's a classy guy but he's also a baby. If I was Garnett I'd be pissed at him.

Lighten up Dan, stop making a mountain out of a molehill. Kevin Garnett is an intense competitor. End of story. I know your MO is to stir up the pot, but this is ridiculous.

Incredible. Dan, over the years your relentless trashing of Boston athletes and sports personalities has been singularly unkind, viscious and unbelievably nasty. Honestly, I can't imagine how you of all people could have written this column: you've done more than your part to incite the mob and make Boston a much less welcoming place for athletes. Please, for all our sakes, just retire and go away.

How exactly is it "Red-soxian"?  Red Sox players are typically friendly to a player who bolts the team and goes to another one.  They understand that it's a business.  I don't recall any Red Sox players snubbing Damon when he visited with the Yankees.  It was the fans who were up-in-arms (justifiably so, I think).  Garnett snubbing Allen is a completely different issue and most likely has more to do with their relationship than anything the Celtics and/or fans are involved in.  Nevertheless, keep stirring things up, which is what you do best.  I know how disappointed you'd be if you didn't have this kind of stuff to weigh in on.  I'm sure you'd have been upset if every one had just got along last night and KG never "snubbed" Allen.  Similarly, you must be devastated that Valentine is gone and that Farrell might stabilize the clubhouse and not call out players and make idiotic comments.

What Garnett is supposed to change forcarrot head? Why does it end badly? Ray will be back after he plays
