20 MLB free agents to keep an eye on

Miguel Cabrera and Prince Fielder — Detroit’s 3-4 hitters — gave the Tigers what was thought to be one of their biggest advantages heading into the World Series against the Giants. Cabrera, baseball’s first Triple Crown winner since 1967, and Fielder combined for 74 homers and 247 RBIs, dwarfing the totals of the Giants’ Pablo Sandoval (12 HRs, 63 RBIs) and Buster Posey (24, 103). That advantage never materialized during the Giants’ sweep as Sandoval and Posey combined for four HRs and seven RBIs. Teams who were done in when their biggest hitters came up short in the World Series, since the playoffs expanded in 1969::
