This is not a baseball move , its a business move. They realize how much easier it will be to sell seats with Ortiz on board ... and they are probably right. Are they overpaying for a 37 (maybe) DH .. strictly DH that is coming off an injury that sidelined him a half a year - yes they are BIG time .. I like Oritz, he has been a great player over the years , but I was really hoping they moved on ... these are exactly the type of contracts that the Sox need to avoid - they just dumped 3 big time - contracts that would have them overpaying for underproducing players ... and while I think ortiz can be productive , sorry - but he is NOT a 14 million per year player. And I do not buy into that Texas was after him ... maybe at 8 Million per year they were after him .. but not 13-15 ...also, here is hoping that at the very least we do not have to hear how underpaid and unappreciated he is this year ... are we done with that at this point ???
