BEVERLY — A single stroke was the difference in Monday’s Division 2 boys’ golf state championship at the Beverly Golf & Tennis Club after Sandwich and Duxbury finished tied at 309. The tiebreaker was the fifth score for each team, and an 83 for the Blue Knights edged the Green Dragons’ 84.

“I remember in the preseason meeting with the parents we said we are going to go to the state championship and hopefully we’re going to win a state title,” said Sandwich coach Brent Pearsall. “We knew we had the talent, ability, and [the kids’] work ethic over the summer and offseason was just phenomenal.”
