Saturday’s Top 25 college football matchups

No. 1 Alabama vs. No. 15 Texas A&M

The teams haven’t met since 1988; the Tide have won 3 of 4 all-time matchups. Alabama, two games up on second-place A&M in the West Division, can secure a spot in the SEC championship game with a victory.

No. 2 Oregon vs. California

The Ducks’ ground game is one of the best, but don’t forget about QB Marcus Mariota, who has just 10 incompletions over his last three games to go with seven TD passes and no interceptions. His 22 total TD passes are the most for a freshman in Pac-12 history.

No. 3 Kansas State at TCU

The Wildcats have scored 111 points off turnovers this season; their opponents have scored none. QB Collin Klein is questionable after leaving last week’s game with an apparent head injury.

No. 5 Georgia at Auburn

The Bulldogs can clinch the SEC East championship and keep their national title hopes alive with a victory. Even a win Saturday may not be enough to save Gene Chizik’s job with the Tigers. In 115 previous meetings, the teams are separated by just 76 points.

No. 7 Florida vs. Louisiana-Lafayette

The Gators have a 49-game winning streak against teams from non-BCS conferences; the 24-year run includes two wins over the Ragin’ Cajuns. Florida won the last meeting, 55-21, in 1996.

No. 9 LSU vs. No. 23 Mississippi State

This is the Bulldogs’ third straight game against a team ranked in the top 15, following losses to Alabama and Texas A&M. The Tigers are 18-1 under Les Miles in games following a loss.

No. 10 Clemson vs. Maryland

Since the Tigers’ last loss (Sept. 22 at Florida State), QB Tajh Boyd has thrown for 1,696 yards and 16 touchdowns in five games. Clemson is seeking its record-setting 12th straight win at Memorial Stadium.

No. 11 Louisville at Syracuse

Ryan Nassib of the Orange leads the Big East in passing yardage (308.1 average), with the Cardinals’ Teddy Bridgewater second (270.4). They are tied for the conference lead in TD passes with 18.

No. 12 South Carolina vs. Arkansas

The Razorbacks have won eight straight against SEC Eastern Division opponents, the longest current such streak in the league. The Gamecocks have won nine in a row at home.

No. 13 Oregon State at No. 16 Stanford

The two stingiest scoring defenses in the Pac-12 — the Cardinal are allowing 16.6 points per game, and the Beavers are giving up 18.1.

No. 14 Oklahoma vs. Baylor

Bob Stoops has 145 wins with the Sooners. One more and he will pass Bud Wilkinson for second on the all-time list.

No. 17 UCLA at Washington State

Led by RB Johnathan Franklin, the Bruins have the 11th-best offense in the nation and are tied for second in the Pac-12 in scoring at 37 points per game.

No. 18 Nebraska vs. Penn State

Both teams are 4-1 in the Big Ten, but while the Cornhuskers have the inside track to the Legends Division title, the Nittany Lions (Leaders Division) are ineligible for the conference title game.

No. 19 Louisiana Tech at Texas State

Bulldogs RB Kenneth Dixon needs two TD runs to set an NCAA freshman record. Marshall Faulk and Ryan Williams share the mark with 21.
