Aqib Talib worth the gamble for Patriots

The Patriot Way met the Milky Way Thursday. Patriots owner Robert Kraft and players Rob Gronkowski and Zoltan Mesko chatted with astronaut Sunita Williams, who is living on the International Space Station, via cellphone and iPad.

No doubt coach Bill Belichick spoke with Williams, a Needham High graduate and Patriots follower, earlier to ask if the holes in the Patriots’ pass defense are visible from outer space or if it just feels that way. That’s one reason that Belichick traded for space cadet cornerback Aqib Talib.

Let me ask you this. Will the Patriots make the playoffs? No, I'm serious. Answer the following:

* They play the Bills, the Jets and the Dolphins twice. How many of these four games will they win? 1,2,3,or 4?

*  They play these three:Pittsburgh, Houston and San Francisco. How many of these will they win? 1,2,3, or 4?

* They play a rejuvenated Colts team. What about that game?

My prediction? They lose 2 to the AFC East. They lose 2 to the Steelers,Texans and 49ers. And they lose to the Colts in a huge upset.

Question: Can a team with 8 losses make the playoffs?

Sorry.

They might lose one game in the ACF East.  They might lose 1 out of three for the S/T/49 trio.  My guess would be Texans.  I think Colts do not upset.  I think this because I think Bellichick and his team can confuse Luck, Fitzpatrick, whoever QBs the Dolphins, Smith and Roethlisburger well enough to win.  And oh, yeah, Hernandez will be back and the two tight end sets will get heavy, successful rotation.  But just for fun, lets assume SF wins too.  That still leaves us at 10-6 and, in the AFC East, almost certainly in the playoffs.  If you are a Patriot fan, I hope that offers a little reassurance...

Pittburgh has been and continues to be a great organization.  Their current quarterback is a brutal thug, but the organization itself has class and great history.  Yes Chris, they are almost always concerning.
