FOXBOROUGH — Patriots quarterback Tom Brady stood behind receiver Wes Welker Sunday after Welker dropped two passes against the Bills. On the first, Welker dropped what looked like a sure touchdown with 7:38 remaining in the first quarter. Welker dropped another short pass over the middle later in the game. Both balls went through Welker's hands.
"Wes is ... I'm always going to go to him," said Brady. "He's one of the best to ever play. He has the mental toughness to fight through it. He'll be fine."
Brady seemed to take exception to the question, cutting his press conference short after a couple more questions. Welker has a reception in 103 straight games. He finished as the team's leading receiver with six catches for 74 yards.
