Within hours of his ouster from the International Tennis Hall of Fame, doubles great Bob Hewitt was permanently removed in his homeland from the South African Sports and Arts Hall of Fame. The national prosecutor in South Africa is investigating Hewitt, 72, over allegations he sexually abused numerous underage girls he coached from the 1970s to 1990s. In the United States, Hewitt is accused of sexually abusing Heather Crowe Conner, then a 15-year-old student at Masconomet Regional High School, in 1976 after he played a season for the Boston Lobsters.
