Red Sox name Arnie Beyeler first base coach

Arnie Beyeler has been in professional baseball since 1986, when he signed with the Detroit Tigers and was sent to Bristol, Va., to play in the Appalachian League.

For 27 seasons, Beyeler was a player, scout, coach, and manager, plying his trade with five organizations and a variety of minor league teams. Through it all, he never landed a job in the majors.
