The Red Sox have too many holes in their roster to fill them all with high-profile players. That helped lead them to journeyman outfielder Jonny Gomes, who on Wednesday agreed to terms on a two-year deal worth $10 million.
The contract is pending a physical.

10 Million? Are you kidding.
I spit out my coffee when I read that---2 freakin years too! what a country!
If this is the best Cherington can do he should be gone !
For a few million more a year, they could have signed Melky Cabrera. This signing is less than underwhelming. Granted it is still early, but the signs are worriisome. Of all the problems on this team that needed to be fixed, would anyone have guessed that finding a backup catche and a below average defensive outfielder who can hit left handed pitching would be priorities?
We could get lucky and he could fail the physical.
Let me add to the negativity of the comments. Seems like more of the same mediocrity being added to the roster.
