Adding Mike Napoli was goal for Red Sox

NASHVILLE — For months now, even before last season ended, the Red Sox have thought Mike Napoli would be a smart addition to their lineup.

From owner John Henry down to the players who eagerly stepped forward to help recruit him, Napoli was a key component in the plans to help the Sox crawl out of last place.

Here we go again. The Sox chasing big buck free agents. Napoli could be good for the Sox or turn out to be a bust like so many other so-called "sluggers" have turned out around here. Alex Gonzles comes to mind right away, but the list is pretty long. Remember Jack Clark? He was supposed to be the second coming of Teddy Ballgame. But turned out to be a total bust. And they seem to be going after Josh Hamilton too. Despite the issues he has come to be known for. Well, it is a fait acompli now. What I want to know is who they are looking at to fill the void that is the starting rotation.
