An early look at Red Sox’ 2013 lineup

What the Red Sox lineup could look like in 2013 based on the early assembly of the roster:

CFJacoby Ellsbury He will be a free agent after the season, which should provide plenty of motivation
RFShane Victorino Switch hitter with speed, fits in well hitting second in this lineup
2BDustin Pedroia If healthy, he could chase another MVP; he is tired of losing
DHDavid Ortiz He has the two-year contract he wanted, now he has to keep producing
1BMike Napoli He has a swing made for Fenway Park, but first base could be a challenge defensively
3BWill Middlebrooks He created plenty of optimism as a rookie last season
LFJonny Gomes Red Sox are hoping this platoon player can play every day
CJarrod Saltalamacchia Or maybe it’s Ryan Lavarnway, with a lot of David Ross (stay tuned)
SSJose Iglesias The defensive whiz has to prove he can hit in the majors, at least a little
