Second baseman Marco Scutaro is staying in San Francisco, agreeing to a $20 million, three-year contract with the Giants. Vice president of baseball operations Bobby Evans said Tuesday night the sides had agreed to a deal, pending a physical. The 37-year-old Scutaro, the NL Championship Series MVP, batted .362 with three homers and 44 RBIs in 61 games with the Giants after he was acquired in a July 27 trade with Colorado. Scutaro played for the Red Sox in 2010-11 . . . Free agent pitcher Dan Haren and the Nationals are close to completing a one-year deal for $13 million. The NL East champions already have a formidable rotation led by Gio Gonzalez and Stephen Strasburg, and could boost it by adding Haren, an All-Star from 2007-09, was 12-13 with a 4.33 ERA in 30 starts and 176⅔ innings for the Angels . . . The Rockies received effective reliever Wilton Lopez and a player to be named from the Astros for young righthanders Alex White and Alex Gillingham.
