I don’t know about you, but I just love these Red Sox “tickets on sale now” marketing campaigns.
Remember the winter of 2010-11? That one was, “We won’t rest until order is restored.’’

Thank you for the Spiro Agnew reference.
I enjoyed the Charlie Brown punch line. The Sox really are like Lucy and we Sox fans are Charlie Brown, continuing to be sucked in by our sheer love of kicking the football.

Omigosh - a positive article from Dan. I think I just sawa flying pig throw a snowball in hell.
I'm with you Dan, although I think I'm even more optimistic. The most important thing is getting their starting pitching turned around. If you get good years out of Lester and Buchholz, if Dubront builds on last year's performance and if Lackey can pitch well after Tommy John surgery, all of which are reasonably possible, plus getting a decent 5th starter, they're going to compete. The offense will be fine. Maybe not as potent as it has been but it'ds pitching, pitching, pitching. Hopefully Farrell will have a positive influence there. As far as the slogan for this year, how about 'Hey, we got rid of all the a-holes!"
Never thought you would print a Spiro Agnew comment. Enjoyed your article, it was a triple.
You're certainly right about the "nattering nabob of negativity" self portrayal, even if you were being positive here. Given your track record, this column is just a setup for some more nattering.
Dan, you alluded to the one glaring fact of this off seasonn so far: They Sox haven't done much about their biggest issue: Pitching. Until they get a top notch, big league premium pitcher, all of what they have done so far will be for nothing. They will stink up the AL East worse than last year. I am not impressed with anything they have done so far.
