Harvard spent the entire five-minute overtime shorthanded but Raphael Girard turned aside all three Merrimack shots and the No. 20 Crimson escaped with a 2-2 tie against the Warriors Friday night in a nonconference game at North Andover.

Danny Biega was called for a major penalty for kneeing as the third period expired, giving Merrimack a man advantage for all five minutes of OT, but the Warriors couldn’t dent Girard, who stopped 36 of 38 shots. Merrimack failed on all six of its power plays.
