Bruins’ Adam McQuaid had surgery for blood clot

Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid had surgery for a blood clot under his collarbone in October and would have been out until January, and possibly February, if the NHL had not locked out its players, reported.

McQuaid had two surgeries at Mass. General within weeks, one for the blood clot, the other to prevent it.

McQuaid, 26, had to have his rib removed and part of his neck muscle during surgery.
