Boston College coach Steve Addazio announced Friday that Ben Albert has been named defensive line coach. Albert spent the last two seasons coaching outside linebackers at Temple . . . Former Cornell captain David Archer is the Big Red’s 27th head coach. The 30-year-old is the youngest Division 1 coach in the country . . . Tulane has received a national letter of intent from junior college quarterback Nick Montana, son of Joe Montana . . . LSU safety Eric Reid, cornerback Tharold Simon, running back Spencer Ware, and punter Brad Wing, Wisconsin center Travis Frederick, Syracuse offensive lineman Justin Pugh, Georgia linebacker Jarvis Jones, and Florida tight end Jordan Reed will skip their last season of eligibility to enter the 2013 NFL draft . . . Pennsylvania state senator Jake Corman is suing the NCAA over its use of the $60 million fine that Penn State is paying due to the Jerry Sandusky scandal. Corman, who filed the suit Friday, said the state gives Penn State so much money every year that ‘‘it would be impossible for the payments to be derived solely from non-commonwealth funds.’’
