Revolution set for MLS draft

With the Major League Soccer combine Friday and the Super­Draft next Thursday, the Revolution are to make picks they hope will hoping to strengthen their roster.

General manager Michael Burns and coach Jay Heaps agree they are much more prepared for the draft this time than they were last year, Heaps’s first as coach. Heaps had only accepted the job a month before the draft.

“Last year was certainly about picking the best player available,” he said. “This year is more specific to the needs of our team.”

The Revolution open the 2013 MLS season March 9 at Chicago, and their first game at Gillette Stadium is March 23 against Kansas City.
