Roundup: BC women beat Virginia Tech

Kristen Doherty scored 15 points, Kerri Shields and Katie Zenevitch added 11 points apiece, and the Boston College women’s basketball team beat Virginia Tech, 53-46, in an Atlantic Coast Conference game Thursday night in Blacksburg, Va.

Uju Ugoka had 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hokies (7-8, 1-3), who trailed at halftime, 28-16. Virginia Tech pulled to within 48-45 on a pair of free throws by Monet Tellier (10 points) with 55 seconds left. Shields gave the Eagles (7-7, 1-2) breathing room seven seconds later with a pair of free throws, followed by two free throws by Tessah Holt with 26 seconds left to increase the BC lead to 7.
