According to a league source, the NFL fined Patriots quarterback Tom Brady $10,000 for unnecessary roughness for his slide/kick into Ravens safety Ed Reed in the first half of Sunday’s AFC Championship game.
Reed told a Baltimore radio station that Brady had reached out to him by telephone to apologize.

Not a fair fine. Brady was protecting himself and did not kick or thrust his leg. Appeal the fine.
Terrible decision which should be challenged!
Brady wasn't trying to hurt Reed, but I agree with the fine. He was definitely using the spiked bottom of his cleats to dissuade Reed from coming in contact with him at all. This is not only illegal, but it's dangerous to both Reed and Brady. No room for this in the NFL.
