I don’t really know any other way to say it: The Patriots played their worst game of the season on offense and defense, weren’t exactly helped out by the coaches, still had multiple chances to be in the game at the end, and failed to take advantage.
The result, a 28-13 loss to the Ravens in the AFC Championship game Sunday night, was, in short, a mess. Basically, everyone but special teams deserves part of the blame.

The Pats mismanagement of the clock before the end of the first half began before the two minute timeout. With plenty of time to run another play, they chose to let the clock run down. You know they were thinking that they had plenty of time to score and they didn't want to leave too much time on the clock for Baltimore. Call it arrogance or cockiness, but they should have know by that point in the game that they were going to need every chance they had to make some plays. A huge coaching mistake.
I no longer have any questions. We are who we are. A finesse team designed to win our Division (whoopy do), maybe even secure a one or two seed , then proceed to loose to the first physical, tough, defensively dominant, unafraid team that we face in the playoffs. It's been that way since 2006 and will likely stay that way until we rebuild the team from the ground up. It's not a bad place to be, but we shouldn't act all surprised when we have trouble with teams like the Ravens, Giants, and now the Forty Niners. We used to be that kind of team and we were unstoppable in the playoffs too. Not our turn anymore.
These guys are classic front runners. I know you're not supposed to read into body language but when you looked at them on the sidelines in the second half there was no fight in them. They just sat there staring forward. I would expect to see more energy, starting with Brady who just sat by himself after every set of downs, for a team playing to go to the Super Bowl. Just like a bully, they get punched in the mouth and they back right down. That to me was the most disappointing part of this game.
Other than that Gregory can't be a starting safety. That play on the Pitta touchdown was embarassing. He's a good tight end, and tough as hell being able to score a touchdown after getting lit up by Mayo, but a safety shouldn't get faked out of his jock like that.
