The Boston College women trailed by only 6 points at the half against a very good Virginia squad Thursday night in Charlottesville, Va., and any kind of second-half surge would have kept things interesting. But the Eagles started the night cold and stayed that way, shooting just 29 percent from the floor and lost to the Cavaliers, 69-57, in an Atlantic Coast Conference game.
Kerri Shields led the Eagles (8-10, 2-5) with 15 points and five rebounds, while Kristen Doherty had 12 points and seven boards. Nicole Boudreau added 11 points in the loss.
