There was no name that caused more debate in organizations around baseball this offseason than “Upton.”
There were impassioned debates on the Upton issue, talent vs. intangibles. There were baseball people who pleaded with their teams to go after B.J. Upton as a free agent and to deal with Arizona for younger brother Justin Upton, and there also were those who said “over my dead body” would they have either.

Nick ..... while I realize you mention both medical and anabolic steroids as being reviewed as possible connections to the hip injuires, by citing ARod as "having used" steroids, the surface takeaway from your article puts more emphasis on the "cheating" kind of steroids vs. the "too many cortisone shots" issue. Point here is that this kind of article will lead to many Sox fans thinking they've just signed an anabolic steroid user in Mike Napoli.... and if that's the case...that would be too bad.
I'm not ready to give Lackey a break. The character of the pitching staff crumbled when he joined. I hope he has matured and won't be calling out his teammates on the field.
I agree with you on this mikewalpole, Lackey needs to prove to every Red Sox fan this season that he isn't the jerk he comes across as and actually cares. He was a huge part of the 11 collapse and needs to know Sox fans don't forget these things.
I can't understand as well why the Red Sox would consider moving Saltalamacchia. He is a stand-up guy, pure class as well as durable, capable of 20 plus homers a season and a switch hitter. The only problem I see is that in his two seasons in Boston he has worn down by september and stops hitting. If the Sox can fix this fatigue issue and maybe rest him some during the dog days then maybe he will have something left in the tank.
