Snowmobiler Caleb Moore dies after X Games crash

DENVER — Caleb Moore was a Texas kid drawn to the snow, rehearsing complicated tricks on a snowmobile into a foam pit back home until they became second nature and ready for the mountains.

With his younger brother following along and constantly pushing him, Moore became a rising talent in action sports.

I'm a coward. I would never risk my life for some risky sport. You won't see me sky dive, play pugilistic hockey, climb El Capitan in Yosemite or Devil's tower, risk serious brain damage in a boxing match, try to wrestle with  Wilkford or challenge the Hulk. I like life and don't hanker to die too soon. Tennis anyone? Bowling? Golf? Young men, stop risking your lives to prove your manhood. Be a coward like me and live a long and happy life.

It is a tragedy what happened to this kid. But, they call it Extreme Sports for a reason. It is very dangerous. There have been several deaths associated with Extreme Sports. Lets face it; we cannnot protect everyone and we certainly can't protect people from themselves. When you go into an activity or profession that is inherently dangerous, one must expect that injury or even death may be the result. Like being a police officer or fireman, or soldier. As for trying to prove their "manhood", well that has been going on for a very long time as well. Young men will always be trying to show their bravery and "manhood" by doing dangerous activities that others would never think to try.
