WILMINGTON — On Friday, the Bruins confirmed the suspected regarding their toughest player. Shawn Thornton was diagnosed with a concussion, and is expected to be out of the lineup for 7-10 days.
At the least, Thornton will be unavailable on Saturday against Toronto and Wednesday against Montreal. The Bruins have a rematch with the Sabres on Feb. 10.

So essentially the Bruins paid someone to get a concussion. Essentially the advertisers are using customer money to sanction concussions, doled out for eight year olds to watch. In this day in age with such emphasis on concussions, why is his approved and applauded?
What happened is not good for the team, nor obviously for the player.I love the hame of hockey but I don't believe that boxing should be part of it.There is a distinction between the two. I like skillful play and passing of the puck.
School-boy brawls don't appeal to me but the hockey mob seems to love it. This is barbaric but obviously appeals to some of the low-lifes in the audience. I don't think "audience" is an approriate name for them. Do you enjoy two guys, helmets probably off, delivering concussions to one another? If you do, then join the barbarians that once enjoyed the gladiators fighting each other to the death in the Roman Coliseum. This is assault and battery and the police should arrest the referees who condone it and the players who engage in it. Who else? The coaches who don't try to stop it?
