Jim Harbaugh wrong to blame officials

NEW ORLEANS — After congratulating his older brother, John, on winning Super Bowl XLVII as confetti rained down inside the Superdome on Sunday night, Jim Harbaugh complained about how he thought several key calls went against his 49ers team in their 34-31 loss to the Ravens.

Harbaugh quickly deflected any questions about the play-calling down the stretch, or about how falling behind in the third straight playoff game finally caught up with the 49ers.

This is a good sports write-up! Thanks for showing me more of the 49ers' coach in action. Everyone in Boston seems to hate the Ravens, but the 49ers' coach took his post game comments too far and comes off as a bit of a whiner. Yes, there were some bad calls. But, the Ravens offense just clicked off the plays. Great game and then we get this stuff from Coach Sunshine! Kind of sad.

I hope the leauge looks at the final pass to Crabtree. He was held.

Yeah, I didn't like the game coming down to that call, and from my point of view he was held.

Crabtree initiated contact on that play as well. It was a good non-call.

Possibly the stupidest argument in sports is that a team should never put itself in a position where a bad call could cost them the game. Guess what? Sometimes games are close. Sometimes the teams are evenly matched and it's a close game, and a bad call gives one team the win. Bedard can point out all the mistakes the Niners made, but it doesn't change the fact that if the referee makes the correct call on the defensive holding on fourth down, it's first and goal on the one yard line, from where the Niners would have punched it in and won the game.

The best part of the game was the halftime show and the Go Daddy spot. I'm glad the Ravens won fair and square

Donte Whitner needs to learn that he also has to play defense for the first 58 minutes of the game, not just the last two.

I agree that the call (in the end zone...clearly beyond the five yards allowed for that kind of contact) but there are always questionable calls...mistakes by refs even.  Receivers drop balls...QB's throw ints...coaches call lousy plays.  ALL of these contributed.  As always happens in every game.  This particular Harbaugh embarressed himself with his own classless behavior.

“I really want to handle this with class and with grace,” said Harbaugh. Then stop whining and take the loss like a man.

After viewing the 4th down play too many times, that was a penalty. Former NFL referee head Diapolous saw it as a penalty as well.

When did it become a requirement in the NFL that coaches have to maintain a demeanor of a librarian? Would we be calling Madden and Parcells classless for exihibiting excitement on the sideline? Maybe Goodell secretly bannned intensity.

This is not a very thoughtful article by not a very thoughtful reporter. As one who bet on and rooted for the Ravens, it was clearly a hold and should have been called. Since when was it decided that the rules apply except in the final minutes of a close game?  Is Bedard maintaining that if he were Jim Harbaugh, he would not be as upset?
