This Super Bowl was one of the greatest

NEW ORLEANS — Where do we start?

Where do we finish?

Great column! I am glad I watched this game. It was so much better than some of the drawn-out yawners of past years. This is what a Super Bowl should be. Too bad the Patriots didn't make it.

This article has a much more nuanced, honest take on what an awful game that SB started out being:

The on air announcers were horrific and the "reporters" had no idea what to do when the lights went. In the end, the lights out incident slowed the Ravens momentum and allowed the 49ers to come back. You can bet if the 49ers had won the Ravens would be bellowing today (they are well known sore losers and complainers) that they were jobbed by the power surge.

It's too bad the Ravens won, as it now allows the thug Lewis to crow that God wanted him to win. But they were the better team.

But I heartily disagree that was a great SB. It was awful -- until the 49ers finally decided to show up. Then it was an OK SB.

I think the NFL has egg on its face today, as does CBS, with that power problem and then the awful announcing. And many are complaining about the officiating today too.

Agree, SOE is a great site.

The announcers were completely out of their depth when the lights went out,  but what do you expect from a bunch of sports-obseesed jocks.  Their mental universe is pretty constrained.

best quote I heard from a friend on FB was "Ray Lewis didn't kill the lights. He was just there when it happened"I too didn't feel the SB was that great. It almost seems that so much hype is pumped into it unless your a fan of either team you tune it out. Didn't feel there were any groundgreaking commercials either.

An addendum to your headline, Dan.  It was one of the best non-partitating New England Patriots Super Bowls.  Any Super Bowl that the outcome could be determined in the last few minutes is a great game.

Serves me right for bailing out when it looked like Baltimore would run away with the game.

What?  Really?  I mean, Dan, really???  Tell me this was a tongue-in-cheek column,...please.
