Mike Eruzione is selling Olympic memories

In the interest of full disclosure, Mike Eruzione wants bidders to know that some items up for auction, like his gloves and shoulder pads, “don’t smell very good.” But they’re authentic, just like the rest of the memorabilia the 1980 Olympic hockey hero from Winthrop is selling.

Offerings include his jerseys, stick, the cowboy hat he wore at opening ceremonies — even his Olympic credential. Everything, that is, except his gold medal and ring. “Those will never be sold as long as I’m alive,” he vows.

Good for you Mike! You're exactly right,. Family, Family, Family. Wishing you the best in the coming Auction.

I hope you make millions Mike, you deserve it.

comparing an Olympic player's two glory games to the careers of men like Ruth and Dimagio and Cousey and Magic Johnson and Ty Cobb . . . if Eruzione can get $1.5 million for smelly jerseys and pads... what could the men who played year in and year out get for their jockstraps and socks?  This is great that Eruzione looks out for his family and town, but it also says there is something bizarre about the American sports fan.

I can't say giving kids $$ is the best thing for them, however I'm sure there are many other unknown factors at play. I'd love to have that jersey, tho!!
