Boys’ hockey players of the week

Sophomore forward D.J. Petruzzelli, Springfield Cathedral — Facing BC High this past Thursday, the Panthers would’ve suffered their first loss if not for Petruzzelli. The sophomore pushed the puck up the ice late in the third period and dished it to unguarded teammate Dominic Blad, who scored the tying goal in a 2-2 draw with the Eagles.

Junior forwards Gino LaRossa and Pat Horrocks, Braintree — The Wamps beat Needham, 5-2, thanks to juniors LaRossa and Horrocks, who each scored a pair of goals as Braintree extended its winning streak to 11 games.

Sophomore goalie Drew Hotte, Milton Academy — Hotte kept the Mustangs alive in a 3-2 comeback win over St. Paul’s (N.H.) last Wednesday, making 24 saves after giving up the first two goals.

Freshman forward Matthew Treiber, Medfield — The Warriors’ freshman scored two goals in a 5-2 victory over Tri-Valley League rival Medway last Wednesday that kept the team’s hopes alive for the TVL title.

Junior forward Andrew Cunningham, Arlington — Cunningham had the goal that gave the Spy Ponders a 1-0 victory over Lexington and qualified Arlington for the state tournament.
