Kevin Winter fired by WEEI

Kevin Winter was fired as the sports update anchor on WEEI’s “Dennis and Callahan” morning show Monday, just six weeks after his debut as the replacement for Jon Meterparel.

According to industry sources, Winter was called into program director Jason Wolfe’s office following Monday’s program and told that the chemistry between him and hosts John Dennis and Gerry Callahan wasn’t working.

Hope he didn't break his lease in Conn.

The problem with that show isn't the update anchor.

You fired the wrong guy(s).

Their day is done. Leave them in Florida. Time to call them into the office.

In a case like this, there's always what they say, and then there's the real story, which they never tell, but which can be deduced by those who pay attention...

Looks like Kevin did not get much of an opportunity.  WEEI seems to be falling apart.b  Felger and company are truly not that good.  In fact if you watch them every day for a month, you are able to stomach more BS than I can.

In the immortal words of Eddie Murphy in Trading Places...." they are panicking out there, I can feel it, I can feel it....."

Kevin Winter isn't the problem on that D&C show; he is energetic, quick to laugh and up on his sports. He clearly is light years better than Meterparel ever was. In fact, with the right guys he can be a good talk host but he was teamed with the wrong guys. D&C are neanderthals in the sport radio business. I mean, what do they bring to the dial that is worth looking forward too? They are just filled with so much rage and hate. I'd get rid of D&C and fill that spot with someone that has a fresher perspective and not so negative or hate filled. Dennis and Callahan, Ordway, Smerlas, DeAssie and Pete Shepard and that group of dinosauers are not relative anymore.

D&C found Winter to be too juvenile.

I love listening to the Dennis and Callahan Show. I thought Kevin Winter was an odd fit but figured I'd get used to him in time. My pick for his (and Meter's) replacement is Pete Shepard. I'm serious! I like his antic brand of passion and think he'd be the perfect foil for the show's co-hosts.
