Carl Crawford felt trapped with Red Sox

Carl Crawford felt trapped by his contract with the Red Sox, a seven-year, $142 million deal he signed prior to the 2011 season, when he realized that playing in Boston was too tough on him and was a “toxic” environment.

Crawford reflected on his two seasons in Boston, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, calling it the hardest period of his career.

Please put me in that terrible hundred and $40 million toxic environment right now. Grownups take responsibility for their performances.

Poor little Carl. Boston is such a scary place. What a waste of money!

Worst FA signing in the history of MLB.

So glad we're gone with the toxic triplets now in LaLaLand.

I go to work in Boston every day.  My boss and co-workers are not always nice.  So I cry a lot, for the same amount of money in one year to 1 day on the DL.  Enjoy LA.  At least you were sexy while you were here, so much for being the best Red Sox LF ever!!!

Don't think Boston has a toxic environment? Read the four comments above.

By the way, if you think wealth = happiness, you're living in a dream world. These young guys make way too much money, true, and we all think they shouldn't be capable of unhappiness under the circumstances. That's not the way human beings are, though. Some of the happiest people I've met had few possessions or prospects, while the most miserable ones I've ever known have too many.

Here's what the research shows: if you want your life utterly ruined, win the lottery.

He was never the right answer for this team. The sad part is that upper management probably knew he wasn't right for this market. But..he was sexy. To them. Maybe he is where he should be: a laid back fan base where everyone expects mediocrity. And gets it......
