The Globe won the “triple crown’’ in the Associated Press Sports Editors’ contest held in Orlando, Fla., earning top-10 honors in the Sunday, daily, and special section categories.
There were also three top-10 writing awards: Mary Carmichael in breaking news for her report on the misconduct of the Boston University hockey team; Greg A. Bedard, Shalise Manza Young, Christopher L. Gasper, Sean Smith, and Luke Knox in projects for their work on the evolution of the tight end position in the NFL; and Bedard in explanatory for his analysis of the Patriots’ no-huddle offense.
In addition, Matt Pepin, Alvin Chang, and Mike Giesta of Boston.com were honored in multimedia for their Patriots’ play predictor interactive .
