Sabres seize control in third, beat Bruins

BUFFALO — The Bruins spent the first two periods looking as if they would sail to an easy victory over the Sabres at the First Niagara Center. But on a night sized up for 2 points and perhaps late-night champagne bon voyage toasts at the side of Lake Erie, their game crashed into the rocks and they limped out of here with a 4-2 loss to their old Adams Division pals.

The Bruins are showing signs of their biggest weakness last year= an inability to finish around the net.  I don't know if it's lack of net-front presence... not enough tips, screens and rebounds, but last year they also went on stretches where they would control play and take a ton of shots. Unfortunately, they were always from the top of the circle with no screen, and night after night, nobody goalies started looking like Ken Dryden.  This team makes goalies look very very good by their inability to bury their chances on a consistent basis.
