Police change investigators in Oscar Pistorius case

PRETORIA, South Africa — South African police appointed a new chief investigator Thursday in the Oscar Pistorius murder case, replacing a veteran detective after unsettling revelations that the officer was charged with seven counts of attempted murder.

The sensational twist in the state’s troubled investigation fueled growing public fascination with the case against the double-amputee Olympian, who is charged with premeditated murder in the Valentine’s Day slaying of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp.

The BBC said friday morning that there is an 'obsession' with coverage of this guy and his allegedly murderous ways.  Ok... when he runs on his 'blades', he is a physical phenom.  But is his overcoming a handicap the reason for coverage of his also being headstrong and cruel?  Or is the media boss group just so bereft of news judgement that it decides on trials?  At times, it seems like international news media reporters are trying to shove readers'/viewers' opinions towards Pistorius being 'not guilty'.
