Aging Yankees still look tough in AL East

The color of the New York Yankees is gray.

The temples of Andy Pettitte, Mariano Rivera, Ichiro Suzuki, Derek Jeter, and Hiroki Kuroda have begun to change. Pettitte has a son who is a senior in high school. Ichiro has more white flecks in his hair than black. Jeter walks with a limp as the result of a broken ankle.

Comments

David Ortiz said he is at 260 pounds, same weight he ended last season at.

1st: Do we believe 260 pounds? Last year & This year?

2nd: As an older player (?) Ortiz gets hurt last year (Apparently, a serious leg injury) jogging around the bases at 260 pounds.

3rd: The Red Sox sign him to a 2 year contract. ???? He was not in great demand. 1 year would have been better (Take it or leave it).

4th: He reports to Spring Training reportedly at the same 260 pounds.

5th: At least John Lackey put forth the effort to get in the best shape possible to have a good year.
