Every Sunday, Boston Globe photographer Stan Grossfeld asks the subject of one of his photos to explain what’s happening in the shot.
Who’s up today Red Sox DH David Ortiz racing his son D’Angelo Ortiz, 8, at JetBlue Park, Fort Myers, Fla., Feb. 17, 2013:
D’Angelo: “I’m faster than my dad. I can beat him in a race.”
David: “I’m just looking at the future, man. He has a lot of fun when he’s down here with me. He’s talking trash. Of course I had to let him win. But I was catching up at full speed. Before, he was a little lazy. Now he likes being out there doing exercises and stuff, which is good. It’s good he’s thinking that way. If you want to be an athlete, you definitely need to work out and keep up with the pace. I see that in him now and I’m happy.”
