Sports log: BC announces 2013 football schedule


Boston College revealed its football schedule for the 2013 season Monday, opening with a home game against Villanova on Aug. 31. The Eagles’ Atlantic Coast Conference schedule kicks off the following week in a nationally televised home game against Wake Forest (Sept. 6) in prime time. BC’s first road game will be at Southern Cal on Sept. 14, and the team visits New Mexico State Nov. 9 for the first-ever meeting with the Aggies. Army comes to Chestnut Hill on Oct. 5 . . . Police are investigating a two-car crash Saturday in Durham, N.H., that killed a local judge and injured two others, including UConn running back and former Globe All-Scholastic Martin Hyppolite (Wakefield High) of Malden. Police said 74-year-old Bruce Larson of Durham died at the accident scene on Route 4. Police also said Ryan Merchant of Wakefield was driving and Hyppolite was a passenger. Both are 22. Merchant was hospitalized in critical condition; Hyppolite was in stable condition . . . Pennsylvania’s governor, Tom Corbett, said the NCAA has been trying to use his antitrust lawsuit over its sanctions against Penn State in a child sex abuse scandal to combat a groundswell of public criticism. Corbett filed a court document saying a judge shouldn’t dismiss his lawsuit against college sports’ governing body.
