Celtics say offers for Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett were weak

Celtics co-owner Wyc Grousbeck told WEEI’s “Mut and Merloni” on Tuesday that his team was very active at last week’s NBA trade deadline despite failing to get a blockbuster deal done. Grousbeck said the names of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett came up the most in trade talks.

“For the last two or three days before the deadline, their names came up more than anybody else,” Grousbeck said. “They were the topic of conversation with the calls coming into us, because people thought maybe we weren’t going to keep it together this spring.”
