FORT MYERS, Fla. — Has the time come to worry about whether David Ortiz will be available for Opening Day?
Not yet, manager John Farrell said Sunday. The Red Sox still believe their designated hitter will be ready. But the Sox have played 10 games in spring training and Ortiz has yet to get on the field.

The only thing Ortiz is getting ready for is to collect social security. He has milked the Sox out of 25 million dollars. Shame on ALL of them!!
Another case of mismanagement by the Red Sox. I like David Ortiz as a player since he arrived in Boston, but his time has passed. Red Sox should not have resigned him after the problem he had coming back from this injury last summer (apparently he has not truly recovered). They could have gotten out of a new contract with him but instead is stuck with a new two year deal. As a Red sox fan, I was happy to see the trade that rid them off $250 million dollars in bad contracts. They should had added Ortiz to that list. If they want him back, they should had offered him a contract similar to the one Napoli now has. I guess public relation versus baseball talent override that decision, but now they are concern about his health and whether he can play.
What a collosal disaster. Someone should lose a job over this.
Oh, if Bob Kraft owned the Red Sox, and Belichick was the Manager, Ortiz would be long gone, or making league minimum. Or both.
