Dan Shaughnessy’s random sports thoughts

Picked up pieces while waiting to find out if I’ve been fired by any radio station this week . . .

The photo of Dennis Rodman sitting with Kim Jong-un at a basketball exhibition in Pyongyang goes into the vault, alongside the photo of a zombie-esque Elvis Presley shaking hands with President Richard Nixon. Rodman’s “This Week” interview Sunday with ABC’s George Stephanopoulos was a stunning demonstration of the Worm’s stupidity.

(yawning)  I guess we're going to get a steady dose of "Larry's not talking to me so I'm going to tweak him" from Shank.

Really Dan?? Scott Boras??  ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha

Grew up in Watertown but love Cabot Park - Humpty Dumpty!  People give Newton a good ribbing but they take care of their kids!  Thanks for the opportunity for nostalgia!

I wouldn't believe Scott Boras if he told me my hair was on fire...and I could smell smoke

Holy crap, Dan. When did you get so curmudgeonly? I mean even more than usual... You were always negative and angry. That was actually fun. Now you're just bitter. It's a little pathetic.

For the next 2 years, David Ortiz will be "J.D.Drew Revisited". He will certainly be out to make the Red Sox pay for those "1 Year Contracts". Great news though, he ran (??) 100 yards yesterday.

Hope to see Jackie Bradley this season. This year would seem like an opportune time for the Sox to let one of their top prospects prove themselves in the big leagues. Wouldn't mind seeing Iglesias get a chance too. He's an amazing fielder who might be a better hitter if given a reasonable chance. It's not like Drew's a 300 hitter.

Dan, on being left out of March Madness, are you counting UMass out already, or just not considering UMass a part of "we"?  The national writers have UMass right on the bubble with enough potential good wins left on the table to play their way in.  No sure thing but their RPI is 54, meaning they need to move up about 8 spots to realistically get an at large, and some "bracketologists" are predicting they'll be in.

Also, Northeastern needs exactly two wins in the CAA tourney to secure a bid.  They are are 1 seed, and getting a bye in a 7 team tournament.  They are the odds on favorite to represent the CAA in the NCAA tournament.  Maybe your "we" only means BC and Harvard.

Only in Boston would the miserable columnist be writing off the local teams.

Nothing about Rory?

Dan, that's pretty sexist - I would assume that Jackie MacMullen could stuff you whenever she felt like it.
