College roundup: BC women pull off stunner

Kerri Shields had 16 points and four 3-pointers to help Boston College upset Virginia, 66-57, on Thursday night in the first round of the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament in Greensboro, N.C.

Kristen Doherty added 15 points for the Eagles (12-18), who blew a 13-point lead but recovered to become the second No. 11 seed to win an ACC tournament game. They will play 15th-ranked and third-seeded North Carolina (26-5) in a quarterfinal Friday night.
