FORT MYERS, Fla. — David Ortiz underwent MRIs on both heels Saturday morning, more as a precautionary measure, but also to determine why he is having so much soreness in the heels rather than in the Achilles’ tendon strain he’s been dealing with since last July.
“Just to rule everything out,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said. “I think the one thing that we still hold in all this is that, while the timing might not be what was maybe initially expected, the bigger picture is he’s still making progress.

david ortiz is big and old. He is at the end of his career.
The red Sox should have Ben Cherington's head examined at the same time for signing a forty five year old has been.
everyone knew about his achiles last july (when he initially injured it)- what i don't understand is that red sox did not build this into the 2-year contract? (I.e. lack of games played or plate appearances due to achiles injury).... ?
I like Ortiz but he was acting as if all was well with him when he was chasing that big $$$$ two year deal that the Red Sox overpaid him on. Ortiz, like so many athletes these days is all about the money and integrity is a far, distant second.
