A person with knowledge of the deal says defensive tackle Cullen Jenkins has signed a three-year contract with the New York Giants that is reportedly worth $8 million, $3.15 million of which is guaranteed, and a $2 million signing bonus. Jenkins, 32, was released by the Eagles last month after signing a five-year, $30 million contract in 2011. The signing gives the Giants a run stopper to play in the middle with Linval Joseph . . . According to a Miami Herald report citing an unnamed source, the Dolphins will not attempt to re-sign running back Reggie Bush . . . The Bengals re-signed kicker Mike Nugent for two years, preventing him from becoming a free agent.

McInerney leads Union past Rapids

Jack McInerney scored in the 79th minute as the Philadelphia Union defeated host Colorado, 2-1, in MLS play. Severe weather conditions forced the postponement of the game originally scheduled for Saturday. The Rapids had been unbeaten (6-0-3) in their previous nine home openers . . . UEFA is scheduled to hear Lazio’s appeal of the two-game fan ban Monday.

Maze overtakes American Shiffrin

Overall champion Tina Maze beat Mikaela Shiffrin in a World Cup slalom event in Ofterschwang, Germany, to overtake the American teenager in the discipline standings and close in on becoming the first woman to win five crystal globes in a season. Maze finished in 1 minute 52.85 seconds, and has a 7-point lead in the standings going into Saturday’s last race of the season. Maze also equaled Austrian great Hermann Maier’s mark of 22 World Cup podiums in 1999-2000 . . . Hilde-Katrine Engeli of Norway earned her first career snowboard World Cup victory by winning the parallel giant slalom event in Arosa, Switzerland . . . Olympic champion Lee Sang-hwa won the women’s 500 meters at the speedskating World Cup in Heerenveen, Netherlands, to take the season discipline title. Lee won in 37.77 seconds, beating Wang Beixing by .01 seconds. Ireen Wust won the women’s 1,500 . . . Justyna Kowalczyk all but sealed the women’s cross-country World Cup season title with a victory in the 10-kilometer race in Lahti, Finland.

Hirscher captures slalom title

Marcel Hirscher of Austria clinched the World Cup slalom title after his sole rival skied out in the opening run in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Hirscher led Felix Neureuther by 184 points going into the race. Neureuther was left with no chance to make up the deficit when he straddled a gate in the opening run. Ivica Kostelic won the actual race, finishing in 1:45.81 . . . Petter Northug dominated the men’s 15-kilometer classical World Cup race in Lahti, Finland, finishing in 34:35.6 . . . Also in Lahti, Finland, Richard Freitag won the large hill event in World Cup ski jumping . . . Jean Frederic Chapuis of France won the ski cross title in Voss, Norway, for his first major victory . . . Rok Marguc of Slovenia earned his first career snowboard World Cup victory by winning the parallel giant slalom event in Arosa, Switzerland . . . In Heerenveen, Netherlands, Jan Smeekens won his sixth straight race in the 500 meters at the speedskating World Cup. Bart Swings, a former inline skater, won the 1,500. Zbigniew Brodka finished second to top the final World Cup standings.

Bulls’ Rose feels pain in hamstrings

During the Bulls’ game with the Lakers on Sunday, ESPN’s Doris Burke spoke to Chicago’s Derrick Rose about his convalescence from an injured left knee. Rose told Burke that despite practicing with full contact for the past month, his hamstrings are “on fire” after the sessions, and he won’t return until he overcomes the issue . . . The oldest boxer to win a major title, 48-year-old Bernard Hopkins said he could retire a champion if he’s no longer inspired and the right bout doesn’t materialize. Andy Murray, the No. 3 seed at the $10 million event, earned a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 win over Evgeny Donskoy, and Mardy Fish, playing in his first match since September due to a heart condition, earned a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Bobby Reynolds. On the women’s side, Maria Sharapova advanced to the fourth round with a 7-5, 6-3 triumph over Carla Suarez Navarro.
