Sports log: Coyotes give Oliver Ekman-Larsson new deal

The Coyotes announced they signed defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson, 21, to a six-year, $33 million contract. The No. 6 overall pick in 2009 has three goals and 14 assists in 27 games and leads Phoenix in ice time at 25:07 per game . . . The Ducks acquired center David Steckel from the Maple Leafs for right wing Ryan Lasch and a 2014 seventh-round pick. Steckel has 32 goals and 41 assists in 398 NHL games. Anaheim sent goalie Jeff Deslauriers to Fort Wayne of the ECHL, indicating Viktor Fasth is ready to return from injury . . . Center David Desharnais, who has eight goals and eight assists in 26 games, signed a four-year extension with the Canadiens, reportedly worth $3.5 million per season . . . The Blue Jackets activated defenseman John Moore after he missed eight games with a shoulder injury.
