Boston Blades women’s hockey is city’s best-kept secret

SOMERVILLE — Welcome to Boston Blades hockey, the best-kept secret since Whitey Bulger’s Santa Monica apartment.

The team, a spawning ground for Olympians and national-team players, gets no respect. The newspapers don’t print their results and they never turn up on “SportsCenter.” Mention the name “Blades,” and most fans think of the furry mascot of the Bruins.

Great story! Where is the home rink in Somerville? It would be nice to see the Briuns help finance the Blades!I assume they will dress a team next season! It would be nice to see a schedule and perhaps a website! I remember when the women's Olympic team played. There were a number of local skaters on that team! There was a fair amount of interest. Can't beat the price of admission! We suport a lot of events in the City.....Let's add one more !Would also be nice to see the local newsmedia at least report the schedule and results of future games! JB
